Fostering Talent In Sports
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” A student life is a successful one only if it has a balance of academics as well as sports. But that never means that you choose one and ignore the rest. No! One has to give cent-percent justice to both of them. Also, many people follow a sport but in a society that only sees your sibling as a money-minting machine for the family, it becomes difficult to follow that sport which you’re passionate about. Paan Singh Tomar of India was a very good shooter and had won medals but the society didn’t respect his talent and he ended up becoming a dacoit. So who are the best people to encourage the young minds of today into sports?
Parents have already started out on this inspiring journey and they have helped in fostering talent in football. The Delhi International Football League is a unique initiative taken by parents in 1983 and it organizes football training for boys and girls between the ages of 5 to 16 year olds in Delhi. The parent volunteers are a good and healthy mix of locals and internationals. The children, good or bad in this sport, learn how to play a fair game and enjoy the success or learn from their failure – the feeling of sportsmanship that everyone must have to be optimistic in today’s corporate world.
The organization is a caring and planned initiative to keep children engaged in a productive task during summers which they usually spend by watching TV, playing video games and getting dumber and dumber day-by-day. Sports like football teach them a lot about team-spirit and how to manage different people and get the best out of each other without being offensive. The club’s initiative stands out and speaks that even when a society which thinks that all play and no work makes Jack a dull boy exists, the determination to do something out-of-the-box always finds a way out.
Since there is a huge fan following of football across the globe, hence children here are getting to know about this interesting sport and who knows, kids from this organization only might end up representing India in FIFA World Cup and make a dream reality!
